PhD Research

Research Plan

Gillian submitted her PhD thesis in October 2013 and passed her viva in January 2014. She was awarded her PhD in July of that year.

The overarching objective of the research was to identify those policies that could promote the uptake of LCVs in order to decarbonise private passenger cars in the UK with minimal disproportionate impacts across different cohorts of society.

Sub-objectives in achieving this were:

1.    Review individual  technologies and existing LCV uptake models

2.    Evaluate current LCV uptake policies and develop an ethical framework

3.    Develop an LCV uptake model, incorporating the ethical framework.

4.    Propose an alternative modelling framework.

5.     Make policy recommendations for LCV uptake.
